Minnesota Wild defenseman Carson Soucy has been suspended by the NHL for a high hit on Connor Garland during Tuesday’s win over the Arizona Coyotes.
The hit occurred in the first period when Soucy was given a five-minute major for charging. As Soucy left his feet for the hit, he made contact with Garland’s head, prompting a fight with Arizona’s Lawson Crouse.
Crouse received a five-minute major for fighting and game misconduct for the incident.
Soucy will be fined $23,706.90 and will miss Thursday’s opener of a two-game series with the Colorado Avalanche.
Soucy has one goal and seven assists in 22 games with the Wild this season.
