The NHL schedule for the 2019-20 season was released Tuesday and it’s going to be a rough start to the season for the Wild, who play 12 of their first 18 games on the road.
The regular season opener for Minnesota is set for Oct. 3 in Nashville, followed by road dates with division rivals Colorado and Winnipeg before the Wild returns to St. Paul for the home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Then it’s right back on the road for three more out East against Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
Minnesota also ends the season with four consecutive road games, but the reward for playing so many road contests at the beginning and end of the regular season is a stretch of 18 of 28 games at home between Dec. 10 and Feb. 15. That includes 11 of 12 at home, including a season long seven-game home stand, for a full month (Jan. 16 to Feb. 15).
