Green Bay Packers linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers will be interviewed by the NFL regarding a recent report linking them to performance-enhancing drugs.
“The league is pursuing that,” Packers president Mark Murphy said Thursday, according to ESPN. “I know there’s been some resistance from the NFLPA about the credibility of some of the sources there, but I don’t think we know much more than that.”
The report originated last December when a man named Charlie Sly from Al-Jazeera America reported – and later recanted – that Matthews, Peppers and other NFL stars, including Peyton Manning, were using performance enhancers.
Matthews immediately called the allegations “bulls—” but hasn’t publicly discussed the report since.
Matthews has been the center of steroid speculation going back to his days at the University of Southern California, according to an older story from Bleacher Report.
