Performance. Enhancing. Substances.
Those are the three words fans never want to see associated with players on teams they cheer for, but that’s what Vikings fans are dealing with Friday after the NFL slapped a four-game suspension on cornerback Holton Hill for a violation of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

It’s unclear what substance Hill tested positive for, but the second-year DB out of the University of Texas will be out the first four games of the season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Losing Hill for four games hurts more than it otherwise would’ve because Minnesota lost Marcus Sherels in free agency to the Saints. That said, the top three cornerbacks on the roster were expected to be Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander.
Hill played in all 16 games as a rookie and made three starts, finishing with 36 tackles, one interception and seven passes defensed.
Hill’s suspension might have something to do with the Vikings announcing Friday that they’ve signed two defensive backs who recently hit free agency with the Alliance of American Football league suspending operations.
