Former University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon announced Friday that he’s settled a lawsuit filed by a woman he punched during an incident in July of 2014.
Mixon and Amelia Molitor released a joint statement announcing that the civil suit filed by Molitor has been, “amicably resolved and dismissed.”
According to the statement, Mixon was able to apologize to Molitor one-to-one.
“I greatly appreciate [Mixon’s] apology and I think the feelings he expressed were sincere,” Molitor said. “We both could have handled things differently.”
In October of 2014, Mixon accepted an Alford plea, meaning he wouldn’t have to go to trial.
Mixon ran for 1200 yards last season for the Sooners, but his draft stock has fallen significantly because of what happened three years ago.
According to NFL Draft scouts the Vikings are one of the few teams that have shown interest in taking Mixon in the NFL Draft this month.
Vikings Hall of Fame running back Chuck Foreman has also advocated the team taking a chance on Mixon.
Mixon isn’t expected to go in the first round. Big boards have him hanging around until the Round 2, where Minnesota is penciled in at No. 48 overall.
