With the Vikings’ victory over Detroit, the Lions’ playoff hopes took a serious hit. They’re now 4-5, and at the bottom of the ultra-tough NFC North. As Free Press writer Drew Sharp put it: “An already faint pulse feebly fell silent Sunday afternoon.”
Next week, the Lions face the Green Bay Packers, who had a bye this week. Green Bay, 6-3, are in second place in the division, with the Vikings third at 6-4.
Both the Vikings and Packers inched closer to the Chicago Bears in Week 10, after the Bears lost to Houston at Soldier Field on Sunday Night Football.
A rainy, miserable night made for a low scoring affair, as the Texans pulled out a sloppy 13-6 win. Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had to leave in the second quarter with a concussion, forcing Jason Campbell into the game –but he couldn’t do much.
Next week, the 7-2 Bears play the 49ers on Monday Night Football in San Francisco.
