Laquon Treadwell didn’t live up to the hype that came with being a first-round pick for the Vikings, but he’ll get another opportunity to show his worth with the Atlanta Falcons.
Terms of Treadwell’s deal haven’t been released, but the Falcons are getting a wide receiver who is still only 24 years old. He’ll undoubtedly be the third or fourth receiver on Atlanta’s depth chart with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley returning as quarterback Matt Ryan’s top-two wideouts.
Minnesota took Treadwell 23rd overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the Vikings, he played in 53 games and totaled 65 receptions for 701 yards and two touchdowns.
Treadwell’s departure was expected as the Vikings never picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Minnesota’s receiving corp now consists of Adam Thielen, Bisi Johnson, Dillon Mitchell, Chad Beebe, Alexander Hollins, Davion Davis and Bralon Addison.
The 2020 NFL Draft is reportedly very deep with wide receivers and Minnesota has 13 selections in the April 23-25 draft.
