Former Hopkins standout and defunct Gopher Royce White hasn’t quite found his footing in the NBA yet.
After multiple disagreements with the Houston Rockets in 2012-13 over how to handle his mental health condition, Royce was traded last week to the Philadelphia 76ers in the midst of the Rockets landing Dwight Howard.
White had very pointed words for those that may think he’s backed off his stance on mental health issues.
When asked if he would fly with the 76ers for every game he replied: “Hell no, one hundred flights would be like if you’re allergic to peanut butter – it’d be like spreading your whole body with it.”
The talented White has cited his fear of flying as a part of a larger mental health condition on many occasions.
Royce also said he hadn’t talked to Philadelphia about how they would handle his mental condition.
That should be an interesting conversation.
