It appears former University of Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson isn’t short on options while choosing his next destination to play college football.
It was reported last week that the “frontrunner” for Nelson’s services was Texas Tech, but Nelson’s father told the Star Tribune today that his son’s official visit to Rutgers went well Sunday, adding that Kansas State is “interested” in talking to the younger Nelson.
Philip announced on KFAN two weeks ago that he would be transferring out of the U, saying he would seek an offense that better fit his style.
Nelson split snaps with first-year quarterback Mitch Leidner this season, playing only three series for the Gophers in their Dec. 27 bowl loss to Syracuse.
The sophomore led Minnesota with over 1,300 yards passing, while finishing third on the team in rushing.
