Great news for the Twins Monday as the team announced that power hitter Nelson Cruz will not need surgery on his left wrist and can resume baseball activities in Milwaukee this week.
Cruz was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with the Twins learning a day later that he actually suffered a ruptured extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) tendon in left wrist during Thursday night’s loss to Cleveland.
Fortunately, Cruz was pain-free Saturday and all tests show that he’ll be good to go.
Nelson Cruz was cleared to resume his hitting program today by Dr. Thomas Graham. It was determined no surgery is required on his left wrist and he can resume baseball activities when he joins the team in Milwaukee.

“The way it feels today is really good — it’s a miracle that it feels like that,” Cruz said Saturday, via the Twins. “I don’t have any pain, so maybe that’s what I needed. Just tear that tendon, and we’re good.”
All in all, great news and Cruz is expected to resume baseball activities when the Twins start a two-game series in Milwaukee Tuesday, although he’s not eligible to return from the injured list until next week, meaning the Twins will be without him for two games against the Brewers and a four-game series against the Rangers in Texas, Thursday-Sunday.
Cruz is tied with Max Kepler for the team lead with 32 home runs, and he leads the majors with 16 homers since the All-Star break.
