The Gopher men’s hockey team fell at home to Nebraska-Omaha, 3-2 Friday night. It was Minnesota’s first home loss of the season, and first loss in almost a month. The Mavericks extended their winning streak to a WCHA-best seven games.
The theme of the game was scoring chances and missed chances. Nebraska-Omaha had twice as many opportunities to score as the Gophers, and Minnesota went 0-4 on the power play — those missed chances killed Minnesota.
Gophers coach Don Lucia thought the game came down to a lack of shots over the first 35 minutes. Minnesota failed to reach double-digit shots until late in the second period.
Minnesota and UNO will meet again Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
