NBC.com pro football guru Mike Florio isn’t too high on the Vikings for the 2013 season.
He also hasn’t thrown them under the bus.
Instead, he ranks the Purple right in the middle of the pack — No. 16 — when it comes to preseason power rankings.
Florio says Minnesota’s biggest strength is the running game built around Adrian Peterson. The biggest weakness, he says, is the passing game that fails to stretch the field.
With backup Matt Cassel on the sidelines, Florio — like most football observers — says this is definitely Christian Ponder’s “prove it or lose it” year.
Bottom line: They’ll be good — or bad — depending on No. 7’s play.
