Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards had the internet buzzing on Friday night as he threw down a “Dunk of the Year” candidate against the Toronto Raptors. While many including Patrick Mahomes took to social media to celebrate the dunk, Edwards has one detractor.
NBA analyst Nate Duncan took to Twitter to point out Edwards’ overall performance against the Raptors which included seven points on 3-of-14 shooting and 0-of-7 on 3-point attempts.
Anthony Edwards all over Twitter tonight with the dunk of the year. He also has 7 points on 3/14 shooting, 0/7 on 3s.

Duncan’s point was validated after the game as Edwards brought up his poor shooting performance in a game where the Timberwolves went scoreless for the final 3:40 in a 86-81 loss to the Raptors.
Edwards: "I don't care about the dunk. I couldn't make shots."

Regardless of the result, NBA fans were quick to jump on Twitter to throw down on Duncan’s criticism. One user referenced Kevin Garnett’s 1998 Nike commercial and suggested that someone call the Fun Police.
Banner Society’s Brian Floyd suggested that Duncan be subjected to an old-fashioned Minnesota snowball pelting.

Other users took part in treating Duncan like Edwards treated Toronto forward Yuta Watanabe on Friday night.
Idk bout y’all but I unfollowed Nate Duncan. If you see THAT dunk and your mind goes straight to stats and you’re not coaching him, you need to stop watching ball. You’re missing the whole joy of basketball. It’s sad.

Still can’t believe Nate Duncan is such a miserable dweeb that he really watched that Edwards dunk last night and his immediate reaction was to #wellactually with his stat line lmao

“Kawhi Leonard is all over Twitter tonight with one of the greatest game-winners of all-time. He also needed 39 shots to get his 41 points and missed a key free throw late.” – Nate Duncan, probably pic.twitter.com/SrEqS9guvo
