Jake Cave became the 11th player in Twins history to hit a home run for his first major league hit, doing so in the fourth inning of Saturday’s loss to the Brewers.
Cave took a first pitch fastball from Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta and smoked it 393 feet over the wall in right field. According to Statcast, it left his at at an impressive 111.4 mph.
Cave was called up from Triple-A Rochester before the game to replace Joe Mauer, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a neck strain and concussion-like symptoms.
