The Twins won on a walk-off homer by Eddie Rosario on Wednesday night, and they won in walk-off fashion again Thursday night thanks to a Byron Buxton tenth-inning homer.
The 3-2 win wouldn’t have required Buxton’s blast if not for Toronto’s Justin Smoak tying the game 2-2 with a 2-out homer off Matt Belisle in the top of the ninth.
But, Buxton was wearing the cape when it was all said on done.
The win is even bigger because the Astros beat the Angels, so the Twins’ hold on the second Wild Card is now three games ahead of the Angels. Seattle is 3 1/2 games back while the Rangers, Royals, Orioles, and Rays have all fallen at least 5 games out.
