Before we get to how awesome LaTroy Hawkins’ interview with Torii Hunter is, let’s get some dated information out of the way.
Hawkins was drafted by the Twins in June of 1991, just four months before the Twins beat the Braves in the World Series.
Somehow, someway, Hawkins is still pitching in the big leagues. On Wednesday night he earned a save for the Blue Jays against the Twins and in doing so became the 13th player in MLB history to collect a save against every team in the league.
Former Twins closer Rick Aguilera is also in that rare club, according to MLB.com.

Before the game, Hawkins spent time in the dugout interviewing Hunter for his blog. They talked about baseball, facing each other, when they want to retire and more.

Hunter also tells a couple of tales about Eddie Guardado, who closed games for the Twins and played alongside Hawkins and Hunter in the early 2000s. Hunter said the “real” Guardado likes to run around naked in the clubhouse and slide face-first into the showers. Guardado also apparently “likes to put toothbrushes in places they shouldn’t be in.”
“That’s the Eddie you gotta’ know,” a laughing Hunter said.
