Don’t jump to any conclusions based on the headline of this story. In an interview with Fox Sports, Justin Morneau was asked about the possibility of playing for the Blue Jays at some point in his career.
Morneau said he would rather stay with the Twins, but if he ever had to play for another team he would like to play for his favorite team when he was growing up in Vancouver, Canada — the Toronto Blue Jays.
In an unrelated story Twins catcher Joe Mauer was asked about the comments former Mets catcher Mike Piazza wrote about him in a book. Piazza questioned how impressive Mauer’s 2009 season in which he set a record by hitting .365 as a catcher, breaking Piazza’s previous record .362 batting average.
Mauer told the Pioneer Press that he doesn’t “read too much into that stuff” because players from different eras are compared all the time.
