The new waiting game for Morneau revolves around his contract status. Twins general manager Terry Ryan was asked by Sid Hartman if they are in contract talks with Morneau.
“No, we are not,” he said. “I think we’ll probably let that play itself out through the course of the year.”
Hartman says Ryan usually lets players or the agents of players approach him before contract discussions begin.
Morneau, 32, will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Note: Morneau’s ties Kirby Puckett for fifth in Twins franchise history with 207 career home runs.
