Marcus Carr drilled a 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining to help the Minnesota Golden Gopher men’s basketball team knock off No. 24 Purdue 71-68 on Thursday evening.
Carr’s play was strong throughout as the junior guard led Minnesota with 19 points and helped the Gophers build a seven-point advantage in the first half.

While the Gophers were also fueled by an effort where four starters scored in double-figures, Purdue took a 32-30 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Gophers showed plenty of balance including a stellar performance from Gabe Kalscheur. Kalescheur knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points as they hung with the Boilermakers throughout the second half.
With Brandon Johnson (15 points) and Liam Robins (11 points) having nice days in the paint, it set the stage for Carr to bank home the game-winning 3-pointer to help the Gophers score the upset.

Minnesota is now 13-7 on the season and 6-7 in the Big Ten. They’ll look to pick up their third straight win on Sunday night when they travel to Maryland.
