After another tough loss, the football experts weigh in on exactly what ails the 5-4 Vikings. Here’s a quick roundup of opinion from around the state — and beyond…
First, we go to the Star Tribune’s Jim Souhan, who would like the Vikings to be honest and admit that Christian Ponder stinks right now.
As GamedayGold’s Eric Nelson puts it: “Ponder … would have had trouble throwing a ball in Puget Sound if he was standing on the shoreline.”
Pioneer Press columnist Tom Powers says the blame doesn’t start and end with Ponder. In his words: “The way the Vikings lost … has people crushing their empty beer cans against their heads.”
Whose to blame for Ponder’s performance? NBC’s Mike Florio is already speculating that offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave could soon be on his way out.
Fire Musgrave? Bench Ponder? Sounds like a new Facebook page.
The view from out of town? Jerry Brewer from the Seattle Times gets the bottom line, which was the bottom line of Sunday’s loss: “The Seahawks stopped everyone but (Adrian) Peterson.”
