The NFL Draft begins one week from today and it seems that the Vikings could go a number of directions with the 30th overall pick.
The biggest team need has to be offensive guard, specifically right guard after Joe Berger retired and Jeremiah Sirles left in free agency.
Minnesota signed Rosemount native Tom Compton, but he’s mostly been a career backup at guard with the ability to swing over to tackle if needed.
In a conference call on Wednesday, the Pioneer Press reports that ESPN’s Todd McShay said it won’t surprise him if Vikings general manager Rick Spielman moves up or down from 30, and that guard isn’t necessarily a sure thing for the Vikings with their first selection.
That said, most of the mock drafts predict the Vikings take a guard with pick 30. You can read more about each of these possibilities at Vikings.com.

Chris Tomasson wrote in his draft preview for the Pioneer Press that Minnesota is “hopeful” that Wynn or Hernandez, both mentioned in the mocks above, will fall to them.

Wynn started 15 games at tackle to help Georgia reach the national championship game last season, but he played guard at the Senior Bowl and was the best player there, according to NFL Draft Scout’s Dane Brugler.
“After starting all 15 games last season for the SEC Champions, Wynn made the expected move inside to guard during Senior Bowl week and was dominant. His initial punch, hip sink and balance while mirroring rushers allowed him to control the point of attack. There aren’t 32 better prospects in the 2018 NFL draft than Wynn, giving him a realistic chance at the first round.”
