The Vikings signed two free agents to make sure their offensive line doesn’t crumble into a pile of dust like it did in 2016.
But with the O-line still being the biggest need, it wouldn’t come at surprise to see the Vikes select a lineman with their pick in the second round.
One player a few outlets have the Vikings drafting is considered the best guard in the draft: Dan Feeney. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound guard just wrapped his career at Indiana University.
Sports Illustrated said Feeney is the best guard in this year’s draft; SB Nation said the same thing.
Meanwhile CBS Sports has Feeney as the second-best guard and they project he’ll be taken 51st overall.
According to their draft experts, Feeney’s best traits are his quickness and agility.
“He shows good anticipation of where defenders will be and looks to finish his blocks, showing the nastiness to pancake opponents when he feels them off-balance.”
His weaknesses is that he only played on the right side of the line for Indiana. Scouts believe he could handle the left side, but the limited reps have could be a downside.
The first pick the Vikings will make is selection No. 48 in Round 2. They’ve got eight picks total.
