Welcome home, Tom Compton.
The Minnesota native is signing with the Vikings, according to multiple reports.
Compton grew up in Rosemount, Minnesota before playing college football at South Dakota. He was selected by the Redskins in the sixth round of the 2012 draft and he stayed there until signing with the Falcons in 2016 and the Bears in 2017.
Terms of his deal aren’t public yet, but Compton might have an opportunity to compete for a starting job in Minnesota, especially if Joe Berger and Jeremiah Sirles sign elsewhere as free agents.
Compton started five games at left and right guard for the Bears last season.
Not only that, but he’s reunited with his good buddy Kirk Cousins.
The Pioneer Press talked to Compton’s mom, who says the two are “best friends” and they were roommates during road trips with the Redskins.
