Umpires have been on the receiving end of partially-sighted jokes forever, and longtime MLB umpire Joe West is no exception. In fact, he might be the rule.
West was part of the umpiring crew working the Twins-Tigers series at Target Field this week, and while in town he went to Manny’s Steakhouse for dinner with Minnesota Vikings greats Paul Krause and Dave Kasper, according to Fox Sports reporter Robby Incmikowski.
When West sat down to order he found that his menu options were written in braille.
Umpire Joe West went out to dinner to celebrate his career milestone.
The waiter brought him a menu in braille 🤣

What we don’t know is if it was Krause and Kasper behind the prank or someone at Manny’s Steakhouse, which likely knows West as a regular customer considering he’s been umping forever.
West umped his 5,164th and 5,165th games in the big leagues while in Minnesota, which is the second most in MLB history.
Congratulations, Joe West! After umpiring tonight's game in Minneapolis, he will tie Bruce Froemming on the Most Games Umpired List with 5,163 games. On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, Joe will move up again to second on the All-Time Games Umpired List with 5,164 games. pic.twitter.com/VoGVRTASst

Manny’s Steakhouse is known as the premiere steakhouse in the Twin Cities, and it’s no stranger to stirring the pot.
It’s the same place that denied service to the Philadelphia Eagles and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick while they were in Minnesota for Super Bowl 52.
