The future of the Twins could be extremely exciting if Byron Buxton ends up as good as somemost every scout in the world thinks he will be.
Baseball America released an article this week and scouts are quoted as saying Buxton is as pure of a hitter as Joe Mauer, Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols. That’s some pretty solid company.
“I am positive he’s the best prospect I’ve seen in (more than a decade) of full-time scouting,” a scout for a National League club tells Baseball America. “It’s not even close. Tools, athleticism, feel and vision. Time will tell what kind of major league player he becomes, but the sky is the limit.”
Scouts are comparing Buxton to Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who took home Rookie of the Year honors last season and nearly won the MVP award.
Meanwhile, the Twins went 13-13 in June thanks to more young players. The likes of Oswaldo Arcia, Sam Deduno and Kyle Gibson give fans reason to be excited, not only about the future, but even the rest of the season.
