Some Twins greats will play, as well.
Jack Morris and Jim Thome experienced some of their greatest moments in a Twins uniform.
Morris will forever be remembered for pitching 10-shutout innings against the Atlanta Braves during Game 7 of the 1991 World Series. His efforts won the Twins their second world championship in five seasons.
Ironically, John Smoltz, who started on the mound against Morris in Game 7, is also scheduled to participate in the game. Could we see a re-match?
Thome slugged his 600th career home run as a member of the Twins in 2011. He also hit many of those 612 home runs against the Twins while playing for Cleveland and Chicago especially.
Of the celebrities, who will play, a few have direct Minnesota connections.
James Denton currently lives in Chanhassen with his wife and two children. He is likely best known for his role as Mike Delfino in Desperate Housewives.
Andrew Zimmern, host of the Travel Channel Show, Bizarre Foods, gained acclaim while he was the Executive Chef at Cafe Un Deux Trios in Minneapolis. Zimmern currently lives in Edina with his family.
The softball game will follow the MLB Future’s Game on July 13 at Target Field.
The All Star Game itself will be play July 15th at Target Field.
