On this, the 75th anniversary of the publication of Action Comics No. 1 (April 18, 1938), which was the first appearance of Superman — we thought we’d offer up Minnesota’s professional sports supermen/women.
In other words: the single greatest all-time Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Wild and Lynx players.
We’ll throw in the North Stars and Lakers as well. Never forget.
Mind you, these aren’t always the best players stats-wise, but the players we feel embodied truth, justice and the Twins/Vikings/Timberwolves/Wild/Lynx/North Stars/Lakers way:
Twins: Harmon Killebrew. There is no other choice.
Vikings: Adrian Peterson. There is no other choice (sorry Fran).
Timberwolves: We love Rubio, we love Love … but Kevin Garnett is still the man.
Wild: Marian Gaborik has to skate to the top of anyone’s list. Sorry, Mr. Parise.
Lynx: Seimone Augustus. Close second: Lindsay Whalen.
North Stars: Gump Worsely. He did it without a mask, just like Superman.
Lakers: George Mikan. A Clark Kent doppelganger.
