Caleb Truax’s bid for the WBA Middleweight belt came up empty Friday night, when he lost to Daniel Jacobs in a 12th round TKO.

For Jacobs it was his 29th career victory, with 26 of them knockouts. It was just the second loss in Truax’s career, and the first time he has been knocked out.
Truax seemed tentative against the champion early on and Jacobs landed a big right hand in the second round that seemed to daze Truax.

Things started getting away from Truax in the sixth, as Jacobs unleashed a vicious flurry of rights near the end of the round.

But the Osseo native did show some of the late-round toughness and power that he has become known for with this response:

It wasn’t enough to beat the champion, though, as Jacobs retains the belt. Truax drops to 25-2-2 all time.
