The Minnesota Wild came out of the All-Star break the same way they went into it, falling to the New York Islanders 5-3 at the Barclays Center.
1. Wild slump continues
Tuesday night’s loss was the eighth in nine games for the Wild. Minnesota’s only victory during that stretch was a 3-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 10.

2. Turnovers haunt Wild during second period
A pair of second period turnovers by the Wild in their own end allowed the Islanders to score a couple of quick goals to turn a 1-0 Minnesota lead into a 2-1 lead for New York.
Mikhail Grabovski tied the game with his eighth goal of the season. Moments later it was Minnesota native Anders Lee, who gave the Islanders the lead.
3. ‘State of Hockey’ natives shine for Islanders
The Islanders’ roster is loaded with Minnesota natives and all of them factored into New York’s victory Tuesday night.
Lee and Brock Nelson each scored goals, while Nick Leddy and Kyle Okposo added assists in the third period.
