There are 17 teams with better Super Bowl odds next season than the Minnesota Vikings. That’s quite a fall from grace after winning 13 games this past season before losing in the first round of the playoffs.
The odds, which are from the FanDuel Sportsbook, were unveiled Monday after the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35 on Super Bowl Sunday.

Without an explanation the only thing we can do is make assumptions for why the Vikings are the 18th-best bet to win the Super Bowl in 2024. It starts with significant questions on defense as Minnesota finished 28th in points and 31st in yards allowed this season, and making improvements will be difficult considering they are $24 million over the salary cap and they have only four picks in the upcoming draft.
On top of that, Adam Thielen’s future is unknown. He’s Minnesota’s No. 2 wide receiver and he could very well be a salary cap casualty because he’s due to cost the Vikings a whopping $19.9 million next season. Without him and the lack of cap space again rearing its ugly head, it’s hard to predict how Minnesota will have the receiver depth to take pressure off of Justin Jefferson.
On the flip side, the teams with better odds than Minnesota also have poignant questions. Take the Saints, who if the season started today would be asking Andy Dalton to start at quarterback.
The Rams have better odds even though they might lose all-world cornerback Jalen Ramsey while being forced to run it back with the same team that won five games this season. They don’t own their first-round pick this year.
And then there’s the Ravens, who are in a difficult situation with quarterback Lamar Jackson, who according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero could be traded for a huge haul of draft picks.
Minnesota’s entered Week 1 this past season with the 14th-best odds to win the Super Bowl. They went on to win 13 games, 11 of them by one score and eight of them requiring a fourth-quarter comeback. Nobody seems to think that type of high-wire act will be as successful in 2023-24.
