After just two games the Minnesota Myth are done.
In emails obtained by various news outlets, players were informed to return home immediately.
Team owner Diana Hutton said the team was seeking additional funding to continue operating but nothing was imminent.
“The timing to finalize the deal cannot be done within the next two days. This has also been delayed due to the negative publicity surrounding our team and the league’s lack of support. As their main purpose seems to be to sabotage this team in order to force my husband to resign as commissioner of the AFL. They even made changes to the schedule without any notification to us,” said Hutton.
The news of the Myth folding comes days after former Gophers QB Rickie Foggie resigned as the team’s head coach.
Myth ownership has been under fire after a report from Arena Football Insider quoted a source that said team ownership failed to provide basics such as meals for the players, coaches and staff.
#AFL: According to reports, Minnesota Myth players have not received payments or meal vouchers. Lee Hutton was to be at practice Friday to deliver payment to players, but failed to show. The report stated the coaching staff spent their own money covering meals for the players over the past few weeks and that ownership “didn’t believe they were responsible for paying for the meals for the players.”
