Mayor R.T. Rybak announced details of a “workforce agreement” at a press conference Monday afternoon, WCCO reports. Rybak said building and operating the stadium at the downtown Dome site would create 13,000 jobs.
The Star Tribune on Sunday reported negotiators are hurriedly finishing a plan to build the new stadium next to the Metrodome. Once the new stadium next door is 75 percent complete, the Vikings would only have to play a few games at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank stadium.
Ted Mondale told the newspaper, “I would think 2016 would be the ‘go live’ year.”
The plan calls for the stadium to be funded at least partly through electronic pulltabs. Last week, state officials told the Star Tribune they are certain electronic pulltabs in restaurants and bars could cover the state’s portion of the cost.
