Just days after he was named the fifth starter in the Twins rotation, Tommy Milone was on top of his game as he made a start against the New York Yankees.
Milone held the Yankees to one run on four hits over six innings as he led the Twins to a 3-1 victory over Masahiro Tanaka on Tuesday afternoon in Ft. Myers, Florida.
It was Milone’s final start with the Twins in spring training. But since he’s not expected to pitch until April 11 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago against the White Sox, he will make one more final start on the minor league side.

Milone had some help, largely from shortstop Eduardo Escobar, who doubled and homered in the game – while scoring two of Minnesota’s three runs on the afternoon.
Relievers Glen Perkins, Mike Pelfrey and Casey Fien combined to give the Twins three shutout innings out of the bullpen.
The Twins will finish up spring training with four games against the Red Sox before heading for Detroit for Opening Day next week.
