Based on what Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said during his Monday press conference, the hamstring injury all-pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes suffered against the Packers on Sunday night is not a threat to end his season.
“Thankfully, it’s very, very mild,” Zimmer said of the injury. “As far as the TV doctors that were reporting were very erroneous.”
We don’t know about any TV doctors, but multiple injury experts who cover the NFL were tweeting that Rhodes’ hamstring appeared to “visibly snap” and might require season-ending surgery.
That’s apparently not the case and the Vikings expected to get Rhodes back, although it’s unclear if he’s day-to-day or week-to-week at this point.
Andrew Sendejo done for the season
Sendejo injured his groin earlier this season and has missed the past six games because of it, and now he’s going to miss the rest of the season with the Vikings placing him on injured reserve.
Sendejo suffered the groin injury during a win over the Eagles in Week 5. Anthony Harris has started in his place the last few weeks, with George Iloka filling in as well.
Harris has done quite well and has been ranked among the best safeties in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
