Another chance for Laquon Treadwell comes with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer demanding the former first-round pick play like he wants a job in the NFL.
Treadwell, cut by the Vikings before the season began, was re-signed Tuesday after wide receiver Chad Beebe was lost for at least two months because of torn ligaments in his ankle.
On Wednesday, Zimmer said he’s kept in touch with Treadwell and that because “he knows the system” the Vikings “anticipate him doing well.”
But Zimmer wants to see that Treadwell approaches things the right way this time around.
“I talked to him about really what he needs to do to prove that this is the thing that he really wants to do, how important this is to him,” Zimmer said Wednesday, recounting his cutdown day conversation with Treadwell.
“I think it’s always been important to him but I think maybe he might have went about it the wrong way. I just tried to give him some insight on what he has to do moving forward. I’m hopeful to see that.”
It’s expected that Treadwell and rookie Bisi Johnson will be active for Sunday’s game against the Bears, serving as the backups to Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.
Zimmer also noted that Beebe should be able to return after eight weeks on injured reserve.
