Manager Paul Molitor had hinted at the possibility of using Miguel Sano off the bench during tonight’s Twins-Yankees wild-card game, but the big man is not on the 25-man roster.
Sano could be added to the roster if the Twins advance to play the Indians in the American League Divisional Series, but if the Twins lose tonight Sano’s season is over.
A stress reaction in his left shin caused Sano to miss 38 games late in the season before he returned to the batting order as a DH for the final regular season series against Detroit. According to Darren Wolfson, Sano was in pain after Sunday’s game, although it’s unclear if that’s why he’s not on the 25-man wild-card roster.
Sano was 4-for-12 with two homers, a double and four RBI in three games against the Yankees this season.
Here’s the full roster.
