Miguel Sano has been cleared by the Twins to start a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.
It’s a good indication that Sano, out since April 28 with a strained hamstring, will be back in the Twins’ lineup some time next week.
The encouraging update came from manager Paul Molitor, who earlier this week wasn’t as optimistic about Sano after watching him struggle through a running drill.
“I thought he looked significantly better,” Molitor said, via TwinsBaseball.com. “Better effort means less pain. We’re going to have to have a conversation today about whether he’s ready to start a rehab. If not, it’s imminent and that’s encouraging. We’re just going to try to figure out the plan and see how long it takes for him to show us he’s ready to be an everyday player for us.”
