Andre Hollins led the Gophers with 21 points. Hollins, who scored 25 points in Minnesota’s opening round win over Northwestern, scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half and overtime. Rodney Williams filled the stat sheet with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
Michigan trailed 56-53 until Evan Smotrycz buried a three-pointer with 19 seconds left in the game to tie the score at 56, eventually forcing overtime.
In the extra frame the Wolverines jumped all over the Gophers with six quick points and the never looked back. They went on to outscore Minnesota 17-13 in overtime.
