Wild fans, we’re not going to lie to you.
This. Is. Going. To. Hurt.
As if it wasn’t enough watching the worst bounce of the playoffs provide the NHL’s best puck handler (arguably) Patrick Kane with a gift of a goal – a goal that ended the Wild’s season in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals – the NHL actually had a microphone attached to Kane during the game, so now fans can hear the season-ending moment from Kane’s perspective. Check it out for yourself in the NHL.com video above.
But Kane was a class act during the postgame handshake. Because he was mic’d up fans can hear him compliment the Wild all the way down the line.
CBS Sports took notice of Kane correctly observing and telling Wild forward Erik Haula that he’s really fast.
“You’re a hell of a player, buddy,” Kane said to Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon, “you’re going to be sick in this league. Keep it going.”
To Wild head coach Mike Yeo, Kane said, “You guys got a hell of a team.”
Game 6 was Chicago goalie Corey Crawford’s best game of the series. During a postgame interview he looked exhausted while talking with the Chicago Sun Times.
“That was a tough team, they played really hard in this (Xcel Energy Center) building … in Chicago, too,” he said. “They kept coming at us. Tough series, really tough series.”
