“You got former Vikings everywhere.”
That, Tuesday, from Ravens tackle Bryant McKinnie, who hopes to earn his first Super Bowl ring Sunday as Baltimore meets San Francisco in the NFL title game.
McKinnie, fellow Ravens offensive lineman Matt Birk and San Francisco receiver Randy Moss make up the ex-Viking trio to keep an eye on.
As for McKinnie, he tells GamedayGold.com reporter Eric Nelson that being in New Orleans “is just great.”
The last time McKinnie was in a huge Superdome game was the 2009 NFC title bout between the Vikings and Saints. That one didn’t end well for Minnesota.
“It just was terrible,” McKinnie said. “I think I was depressed for a little bit after that.”
As was the rest of Minnesota, a hangover that still buzzes in the back of our Purple brains.
McKinnie, who was a Baltimore backup all year, regained his starting spot when the 2012 playoffs began. Three wins later, he’s in the biggest game of his life.
“It’s been an interesting road,” McKinnie said. “But it looks like it’s working out.”
