Former Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe participated in the NBA Scouting Combine in Chicago, Illinois this week.
Mbakwe, who overcome a torn ACL and off-the-court legal issues during extended collegiate career, talked to the Star Tribune about his path to the draft.
“It has definitely been an interesting journey. I couldn’t have planned the way it has gone if I wanted to. I’ve been through a lot, but I feel like I’m prepared at this point now.
“I definitely didn’t have the ideal route to get here as many people would have wanted. But I’m just fortunate and lucky to be here, and I’m going to make the best of the opportunity.”
NBADraft.net has Mbakwe being selected in the second-round by the Dallas Mavericks. It also has former Gopher Rodney Williams being drafted in the second-round by Detroit.
