The Minnesota Timberwolves hung with the Dallas Mavericks for the first 24 minutes, but a rough third quarter sent them to a 128-108 defeat on Wednesday night.
The first half went well for the Timberwolves behind another big night from Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns got into double figures early and finished the evening with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Towns’ efforts were joined by Anthony Edwards, who scored 29 points to help the Timberwolves go into halftime down 56-55.

While the Wolves hung with Dallas in the first half, the Mavericks pulled away in the third quarter.
Kristaps Porzingis was a terror in the paint, putting up 29 points to go with nine rebounds and Tim Hardaway Jr. had 21 points off the bench to help the Mavericks outscore the Timberwolves 32-18 in the frame.
Nursing a big lead the rest of the way, the Mavericks held on comfortably to send the Wolves to 10-34 on the season.
The Timberwolves will host the Houston Rockets on Friday night in a battle of the NBA’s worst teams.
