Joe Mauer is in a slump.
OK. Calm down. The three time batting champ will probably be just fine, but he’s only hitting .237 through the first six games of the season.
Not only is his average down, but he’s striking out. He fanned five times against the Orioles, including a three strikeout game Saturday night. It was only the sixth game of his career with three strikeouts.
The former MVP, who also had an error against the Orioles, tells the Pioneer Press that he had a “tough series” in Baltimore, but will try to “get back on a roll” against Kansas City.
A betting man might want to put some money on Mauer destroying the Royals, as he has his entire career. His lifetime average against the current pitching staff of the Royals is a ridiculous .426.
