Twins catcher Joe Mauer says he’s glad to back with the team after paternity leave, but admits it’s tough to leave his 6-day-old twin daughters at the hospital.
Mauer spoke with reporters this afternoon after helping unveil the 2014 All-Star logo at Target Field.
His newborns, Emily and Maren, were born five weeks premature, each weighing four pounds, 15 ounces, according to the Pioneer Press.
Mauer says his wife, Maddie, continues to recover at home, and that he hopes to bring the newborns home “soon.”
