If Matt Kalil were a vehicle, he’d be in the ditch. That’s how bad the former Vikings left tackle is playing in Carolina this season.
This isn’t the first story we’ve done checking in on Kalil, but it’s another reality check for Panthers fans who watched their ownership spend $55 million to protect quarterback Cam Newton’s blind side.
Kalil’s latest disaster was Sunday in Chicago. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he graded out at 36.6 – an insanely low number – after he made Newton run for his life seven times, with one of the hurries resulting in a sack. What’s equally appalling is that PFF says the Panthers ran the ball seven times to Kalil’s side for a total of 14 yards
For comparison, Vikings tackles Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers graded out at 83.4 and 87.1, respectively.
Here’s the PFF recap on Kalil.
“Kalil struggled to block Bears edge defender Pernell McPhee and Co., as the former Minnesota Viking surrendered 7 total pressures including a sack and a hit. He also struggled in run blocking, as Panthers’ rushers gained just 14 yards on 7 carries when running left.”
Here’s some fan reaction on Twitter to Kalil’s day.
Matt Kalil needs to be arrested for stealing 55 million of Jerry's dollars.

It’s great to see Matt Kalil is still awful over in Carolina.
