Veteran cornerback and return man Marcus Sherels will return to the Vikings on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.
The Rochester native and former Gophers star has spent his entire eight-year career with the Vikings.
Last season, he added kick return duties to his job description and he averaged 24.6 yards per return as the replacement for Cordarrelle Patterson, who wasn’t retained following the 2016 season.
Sherels averaged 9.5 yards on punt returns while also adding depth in the secondary.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Vikings still have interested in bringing back veteran cornerback Terence Newman, who remains unsigned as a free agent.
