The Minnesota Wild announced on Sunday that Marco Rossi, who was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, will be sidelined indefinitely with an upper-body injury.

The exact injury or extent of the injury is unknown at this time, but Rossi was set to join the Wild’s training camp after finishing a seven-day quarantine after playing for Austria in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
Rossi put on a strong performance during the WJC, showing the two-way game that makes the 19-year-old a top prospect.

Rossi is one of several players that are building a young nucleus for the Wild along with Kirill Kaprizov, who put on a show of his own during the team’s scrimmage on Friday night.
There was a potential scenario where Rossi made the Wild roster, but that seems to be scrapped for now due to the injury. With Rossi being a key piece of the team’s future, fans will now wait to see how long before Rossi can return to the ice.
