Frederick Gaudreau scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Wild over the Stars 3-2 in Dallas Thursday night.
Gaudreau scored the winner after receiving a long pass from Wild goal Marc-Andre Fleury, who quipped after the game that it was his “French sense” that helped him spot Gaudreau along the left-wing wall.

“I saw him out of the corner of my eye,” said Fleury, who is 5-1 since being traded to Minnesota from Chicago. “I knew it was my chance. French sense.”
Kevin Fiala scored both of Minnesota’s goals in regulation, marking his 27th and 28th goals of the season.
The Wild have 98 points and are tied with the Blues for second place in the Central Division, though MInnesota has a game in hand on the Blues. But the race for second in the division will take another turn Saturday when the Wild face the Blues in St. Louis.
In all likelihood, the Wild and Blues will face each other in the first round of the playoffs. Whoever finishes second in the division will have home-ice advantage.
The game Saturday starts at 2 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ABC.
