Joe Mauer back, Drew Butera down.
That’s the story at Target Field after Mauer was reinstated from the restricted list today after a six-game absence for the birth of his twin daughters.
To make room for daddy, catcher Drew Butera was sent back to Class AAA Rochester.
The Twins start a six-game homestand tomorrow night against Kansas City and Houston.
Mauer was red-hot before leaving the team last Tuesday, hitting .343 in the month of July.
Meanwhile, our favorite Butera moment was his Italian salutation to Chris Colabello Friday night after Colabello hit his first major league home run. The blast helped power the Twins to a 3-2 extra-innings win over Seattle.
