Kenta Maeda had his best start of the season and Jorge Polanco hit an eighth-inning RBI double as the Minnesota Twins opened their four-game series against the Texas Rangers with a 6-5 victory on Monday night.
The Twins got on the board with a sacrifice fly from Polanco in the second inning before Josh Donaldson hit an RBI double in the third. With the Twins nursing a 2-0 lead, they added three more runs in the top of the sixth.
Alex Kirilloff, Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler all drove in runs in the sixth inning and the Twins had a 5-0 lead.

While Maeda shutout the Rangers through 5.2 innings and struck out eight, the Twins turned to their bullpen to ignite a Rangers rally.
Adolis GarcĂa hit a two-run homer and Charlie Culberson added an RBI ground out to bring the Rangers within 5-3 in the eighth inning. Polanco added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double to put the Twins ahead 6-3.
The Rangers added two runs on a Joey Gallo home run off Taylor Rogers but the Twins were able to close out the game and pick up their fourth victory in the past five games.
The Twins (11-16) will play the second game of their series with the Rangers on Tuesday night at Target Field.
